The Rovian Fallacy - Is Karl Rove re-thinking his political calculus on amnesty?
"Karl Rove promulgated the thesis that a pathway to citizenship for illegal aliens would be a political winner for the Republican Party. I disagree."
"Instead of competing in a watered-down imitation of Liberal Democrats' pandering for the votes of "Amnesty-Hispanics," wouldn't it be more prudent as well as more respectful to the Hispanic-American community for the Republican Party to offer a clear alternative, to appeal to their American patriotism and their own real self-interests as US citizens?"

The cost of operating our military is up significantly because of the two wars we are currently engaged in. So would it make sense to place a special tax or surcharge on the soldiers we are sending to fight to help cover these costs? The idea is absurd. Full Story

As a proud American of Hispanic Heritage, it is clear to me that citizenship is a national treasure and one that should not be given out freely to those who trespass on our national sovereignty. I am particularly offended by those who are calling Arizona's Immigration bill SB 1070 a bill of racism or racial profiling. I would ask these individuals to actually read the bill. Nowhere in the bill is profiling of any kind referred to or allowed. This bill simply puts an end to local governments tying the hands of law enforcement officers. Full Story

Tonight, Florida District 24 Congresswoman Suzanne Kosmas sold her health care vote to the President. She voted no to the first House health care bill because she said it was too expensive. She never mentioned anything about it being unconstitutional. Now, she is willing to vote for a far more expensive bill, which by the way is also unconstitutional.Full Story

As a nation, we have become increasingly dependent on the federal government for solving our problems. Unfortunately, the federal government was not designed for nor intended to solve our social and civil problems. James Madison explained in the Federalist Papers No. 45, that the federal government's role is principally external while the powers reserved to the states are civil in nature. "The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the Federal Government are few and defined. (They) will be exercised principally on external objects, as war, peace, negotiation and foreign commerce. The powers reserved to the several States will extend to all the objects, which, in the ordinary course of affairs, concern the lives, liberties and prosperities of the people.“Full Story

Here is a letter I received from Cindy Hurston about the plight of the orphans in the area of the Ruuska village. Let's network and find a solution.
Dear Tom,
I hope you had an eye opening and heart touching trip to Haiti. I know that once you see and hear the Haitian plight, you are changed forever. This happened to me as a new nurse. It took me only one trip to Haiti (back in 1983) to convince me to commit most of my adult life to helping in that impoverished country.
