"A universal peace, it is to be feared, is in the catalogue of events, which will never exist but in the imaginations of visionary philosophers, or in the breasts of benevolent enthusiasts." --James Madison
National security, American sovereignty and immigration are of the utmost importance to preserving our liberty, culture, and way of life. The federal government’s constitutional obligation is first to protect our sovereignty through a strong defense, controlled border, and enforcement of immigration law that encourages simulation of peoples with the same desire to be Americans.
National Security
President Obama and Russian President Medvedev signed the New START Treaty on April 8, 2010. Concessions made by Obama include severely diluting and limiting the U.S. ballistic missile defense and the U.S. ability to deploy effective missile defenses to protect the homeland and its allies. NASA and our national security are closely linked. The international security environment continually changes posing greater risk and competition. Warfare progress depends upon an informational advantage, which are easily acquired from space. With so many rogue states acquiring nuclear warfare technology, space technology will be the only way to ensure a humane response. CSIS Link
Immigration
Most people agree that September 11th, 2001 is a prime example why our national security depends on a strong border security.
• As a nation that is based on the rule of law we must reject amnesty, send those who are here illegally home and secure our borders. When we fail to secure our borders, we hand over our sovereignty, security, and prosperity.
• I support the Arizona law that allows enforcement of already existing law. The federal government is obligated to enforcing these existing laws and not resort to amnesty as a way to avoid responsibility.
• Enforce visa rules. Immigration officials must track visa holders and deport anyone who overstays their visa or otherwise violates U.S. law. This is especially important when we recall that a number of 9/11 terrorists had expired visas.
• No amnesty. Estimates suggest that 10 to 20 million people are in our country illegally. That’s a lot of people to reward for breaking our laws.
• No welfare for illegal aliens. Americans have welcomed immigrants who seek opportunity, work hard, and play by the rules. But taxpayers should not pay for illegal immigrants who use hospitals, clinics, schools, roads, and social services.
• End birthright citizenship. As long as illegal immigrants know their children born here will be citizens, the incentive to enter the U.S. illegally will remain strong.
• Pass true immigration reform. The current system is incoherent and unfair. But current reform proposals would allow up to 60 million more immigrants into our country, according to the Heritage Foundation. This is insanity. Legal immigrants from all countries should face the same rules and waiting periods.
Sovereignty
Our rights and sovereignty hangs in the balance every time Congress makes agreements with foreign powers. We must withdraw from any organizations and trade deals that infringe upon the freedom and independence of the United States of America.
We should have a policy of free trade with all. Government intervention and agreements fail to protect the consumer both in America and abroad. So called free trade deals and world governmental organizations like the International Criminal Court (ICC), NAFTA, GATT, WTO, and CAFTA are a threat to our independence as a nation. They transfer power from our government to unelected foreign elites. The WTO has forced Congress to change our laws, yet we still face trade wars and lose U.S. jobs.
The ICC wants to try our soldiers as war criminals. Both the WTO and CAFTA could force Americans to get a doctor’s prescription to take herbs and vitamins. The United Nations wants to impose a direct tax on U.S. citizens. If we aren’t careful, you won’t recognize the America of the future.
